| C-span had the consultant for McCain in SC 2000 on today. |
|
His name is Bill Rauch, and he's written a book titled Politicking.
During the question and answer session he had quite a few interesting things to say. He described how Rove destroyed McCain in SC.
First Rove contacted the RW shock jocks to spread the word about the "fathered an illegitimate black child" story. Then he contacted the military and said McCain had fathered an illegitimate Cambodian child (same child BTW) in order to get easier treatment while he was a prisoner.
Roe puts these stories our about 6 to 10 weeks before the election so it's very difficult to refute them.
When Bill Rauch checked the campaign results, McCain had won the votes 6 to 1...except for the religious right and the military!
He said this same thing is going to happen to Kerry, so be prepared for it!!!
He also was asked how we could fight against the Limbough's and Hannity's. He said the left is going to have to put some people out on the radio that are extreme LEFT! Here's how it works: You have the majority in the middle, and a group of jocks on the right who are pulling the middle to the right. You have to get some extreme leftists to not only counteract the right, but to move the middle back left a little.
Very interesting guy. I might buy his book!

in response to a question from the audience, that if he were McCain he would have a very hard time standing next to Bush, much less hugging him! Fours years were not nearly long enough to forgive him for those smears.
Wouldn't we all like to know what's up with McCain?

| 2. Yea, I don't know either. My guess is to CYA his job in AZ. |
|
As far as I know, he has a lot of support in AZ, but maybe he's coming up for election in the next few years and wants to make sure. I must say, if you look at that hug, it sure didn't look very sincere to me!
It scares me though about the "stories Rove will start too close to the campaign to refute them! I can only hope Kerry's advisors have a plan!

| 5. That's Why I Refuse to Get Defensive About Michael Moore |
|
Even though I basically see Moore as a gadfly and propagandist, the left needs several of those - badly. Few on the left, who have credibility, are willing to step forward and be a flamethrower/lightning rod. Don't want to get dirty.
