Is Buzzflash.com out-drawing CNBC network in audience?

I got an email last month from Buzzflash that said they had 3.7 million readers that month.

There are a lot of shows on CNBC that rate less than 100k a day.

The Buzzflash.com 3.7 mil divided by 30 days is 123,000 readers each day.

Is alternative media over-taking the corporate whore press?

Buzzflash is not even the top site, they are good but Dem groups like MoveOn.org have over 5 million 'members' much less counting their friends and readers.

Even the top bloggers like DailyKos, Atrios, or TalkingPiontsMemo out draw many cable channels with over 100k a day.

The tide is changing folks.

And once that wave crests you cant stop it..

It will roar all the way to the beach.

And that beach has the truth written all over it!

With football season coming up that Bear pic was starting to bug me more

Please understand, my whole family is Alabama so it’s a tuff life.

The game is always at Thanksgiving so it’s a family occasion. If Auburn loses I hear every Auburn joke in the book by Sunday.

If Alabama loses, then I don't get any Christmas presents!

I'm born and bred in Tuscaloosa. My whole life, except for a year or two in Ohio, has been in Tuscaloosa. So my blood is Crimson. And always will be. But I don't hate you Auburn guys. And I think we can agree on one thing. Bush must go. :D

2. Participatory Journalism

Along these lines, I'd also like to point out the interesting concept of participatory journalism. Electronic media has allowed us, i.e. those humans affluent enough to have internet access, to not only research, but publish, news stories on our own. One recent case is Starr's uncovering of Bush wearing medals he could not have possibly been awarded.

The ability to get the "mainstream" news outlets (in quotes because of the stats you point out) to pick up such stories is as yet dubious, but we can all be hopeful. Eventually, as more and more of the world population gain internet acces, an equilibrium will be reached, and the major news outlets will be a thing of the past.

3. The only problem with "new" journalism, is that there are still lots

of people who have limited or no access to the web.. Those people are the ones MOST in need of finding out the truth..

and the web is sort of like the grocery store check-out line,, There's Time magazine, Fortune, Ladies Home Journal and of course there is also The Enquirer, the Star, and Globe...There are people in the world who believe anything they see written down, and have no concept of what is real and what is fantasy..:(

A "new" journalism will require that all particpants are vigilant towards finding the truth and vetting out rumors and inaccuracies, much like the peer review process used in academia. Kind of sounds like democracy....
