a glimmer of hope in Dallas / Ft. Worth

Kerry stickers outnumber Bush stickers by about 5 to 1 on the highways (and I'm in traffic a lot). Doesn't mean we're ahead necessarily, but it does mean that there aren't many people for Bush who are proud enough to put a sticker on their Ford Earth Destroyers.

I saw the funniest thing this morning: a confederate flag on the back of a pickup with a Kerry/Edwards bumper sticker and two of the reddest rednecks I've ever seen in the cab.

1. Gore won in Dallas

He didn't take the county, but he took the city. '

I think it is within reach for Kerry to also carry the county.

It is little known that Gore won in Houston, the city, but not the county, also.

And, of course, he carried Austin.

2. It really gets me that people write off Texas

OK maybe Kerry should not spend a lot of time there, but should go there and do the best he can.

3. Well...in Travis County, Bush* won a plurality.

But that was because Nader took about 10%. Gore would have won Travis County quite easily if Ralph wasn't onthe ballot. Not that it mattered statewide...
