There was a front page article on slashdot.org so all the computer geeks went to blackboxvoting.org to see what was happening.

There are very few web servers that survive tens of thousands of geeks hitting your site at almost the exact same instant and then continue to hammer away for the next few hours. There bandwidth limit has probably been exceeded and the accountis suspended until they can cough up more dough.

But not much of a surprise. The stuff coming out of BBV has been very, very grim. The lack of effective government response has been even grimmer.

Facts are very distasteful to the neos. And they have no intention of giving up power. So moving on any independent source of information is a matter of course.

It isn't hard to see where this is going.

16. It's still up and working from north of the border

although I usually link directly to the forums first, and then click on the BBV logo to get to the homepage. There ARE some weird slowdowns occurring in parts of the country today.

Too many hits and seems to be quite a few from one source. Could be a DOS type thing.

20. Yikes. 2.2 million hits today? Whew!

Well I never. The combination of slashdot and fark.com, and I didn't believe it when the ISP indicated the hits were in the millions today -- but this was confirmed by an independent source.

The paid subscribers on fark.com who went to the site were 220,000 or something like that. The unpaid browsers, many more. Click-throughs on the Gems hack article, the full piece, not the front page, are about 25,000.

Geez.
