At the request of the NFL. The league had been asked by BushCo. for a player to appear and with the Pats red hot at the time, the NFL picked Brady.

I have done some extensive research on this and have found zero evidence that he is/was/will be a Repug. The only inkling I have is that he was supposed to host a fund raiser for Kerry last summer but the senator canceled it because of a scheduling conflict. He runs with some on the Hollywood crowd. His girlfriend is actress Bridgette Moynihan. I doubt he's a Pug and there's certainly been no comment on it by him.

On the other hand, Robert Kraft who owns the team has shelled out big bucks for Dems and the DNC over the last 10 years.
