Axe the entire damn thing, and rebuild it from scratch. It has been around for 200 years, I think it has served its useful life.

That might well be what it takes. While we're at it, I'd love to see that done to the entire legal system as well.

| 2. Well, I'm sorta partial to the Constitution....*damn smart document* |
|
Can we keep that and just rebuild around the places that haven't adhered to the 'spirit and intent' of the Constitution (of the United States of America?

| 4. The constitution doesn't need to be axed, but it needs some work. |
|
It needs to clarify the right to bear arms, so that the people can take down the government. (The people have no control over the government any more)
The two proabition ammendments need to be axed, since they just are wasted space and cancel each other out.
Hapeaus Corpsus needs to be reinforced (Pier 57 last week, anyone?)
Other than the Constitution, the rest of the government needs to get axed.
1) A computer should randomly assign a registered voter a district instead of allowing a stacked legislater choose them. 2) Get rid of Electoral College 3) Prevent the creation of clasified documents 4) Withdraw from all the treaties and renegotiate them 5) Universal healthcare, guranteed homeless shelters 6) Legalization of industrial hemp
What else am I missing?

| 6. How about 7) Revamping public schools |
|
so they have enough money to properly educate in properly sized classes, and while we're at it pay teachers a wage equal to the very important job they do.
I always laugh when the repugs scream about all the "liberal" teachers. Well no conservative wants to be a teacher, there's no freakin money in it. Maybe if they were'nt such greedy assholes they would take a job thats more fulfilling emotionally than financially..

| 7. Corporations should not hold the status of 'personhood' for one thing.... |
|
I thought for a long time that this was a 'good' thing, but alas, the bad side of human nature has turned it to evil.
The 'Fairness Doctrine' should be reinstated.
People need to return to being 'pro-active' to the golden rule of 'doing unto others as you would have them do unto you'. Currently, most of us are REACTIVE - if someone is nice to us, we are nice in return. Well, that means SOMEONE ELSE is always 'calling the shots', doesn't it? We really need to go back to 'doing the right/good thing, just b/c it's right and good - for it's own sake.
'Silly' post I suppose, but that's the truth as I humbly see it - I'm off to bed. Nite.

| 5. I'm with you on the constitution |
|
what needs to be changed is the way we elect our leaders. We have to find a way to get poor and middle class(you know, commoners, peasants, those people) back on the ballots. The American Democracy is run and financed by the rich corporations. In order to get to a position where you can run for President you have to be beholden to your donors. It's ludicrous... boy that word has been coming up alot today :-(

| 8. I'd like to see the direct election of SCOTUS justices. |
|
This alone would help our country greatly. The system right now is geared to put a narrow range ideologies range into the Supreme Court (they range from ultra-conservative to moderate). Direct elections might help fix this.

| 3. they need to restrain the Obsessive Compulsive power/money mongers |
|
This needs to recognized as a sociopathic and sometimes psychopathic mental illness when their behavior to achieve wealth results in the harm and death of others.. like subjecting pregnant women to 28X the Mercury to maximize profits.. when they are already richer than the poorest 3.5 billion on earth. and pay no taxes..:tinfoilhat:

|
Between the perfectly Gerrymandered house districts and the baffling electoral college system that allows the first runner up to finish first, the Constitution could use a bit of a re-write.

| 11. No more "Christmas tree" bills |
|
Many states require that bills introduced to the legislature cover only one subject.
That should be in the federal Constitution as well, so Congress critters can't tack irrelevant and possibly harmful riders onto bills that are about a completely different subject.

| 13. 2 things the framers missed have buggered everything |
|
1. Corporations, money, economic management was left out of the constition, and 200 years later, the political system is entirely corrupted by unregulated money bribing the electoral process.
2. Electronic media. How could they have know that ben franklin's key would turn in to a bunch of brain-dead television sheeple, convinced that their idiot box is truth.
I agree with your other points, and think we really should be looking at a new constitution, one that better preserves and sustains the human rights of ALL americans and ALL peoples on this small world.
