That's what I saw last week at Madison Square Garden. A throng of death-worshippers, boasting about killing "enemies", wallowing in the WTC deaths, loving death, cheering killing. I'm still sick about it. I hope to god Giuliani never crosses my path in this town. I will have plenty to tell him.

their true dark inner feelings onto other people. So in this case I guess we need to assume that Brook's supports a "cult of death" in his own psyche and himself loves the "sheer pleasure of killing and dying. "But, in this article he projects his pleasure onto other people whom he then chastises.

11. Actually, I think he's pretty much right about this one

..even if he may have gotten the image from your description of the republicans. however, I do have to tell you that synchronicity happens.

But, I also think you're right, Stephanie, at least about a certain faction of the Republican party base. The Talibornagains who have taken over the Republican Party should be reputiated by all non-lunatic fringe Republicans, but they won't be, because they are needed to win.

However, the damage they're doing to our democracy, and to the idea of classical liberalism (now called conservatism with its emphasis on property rights) is something for which the Republicans will be called to account and which will lead to them so alienating independents and moderates that no Republican will be elected dog catcher.

...Because the Talibornagains share much with the Islamic Fundamentalists, and the only thing that constrains some of them at this time is the rule of law...which they want to redefine in their savage and hate-filled terms.

But Brooks is right about those terrorists who killed those children in Russia. It's horrific. I do not understand how anyone can justify their acts or sympathize with them, no matter what their supposed grievances. They killed hundreds of people. Many of them children. In a school. That's repulsive.

And, yes, we have also killed children in Iraq, and that's repulsive, too, especially considering the lies the sons of a bitches told to justify those murders. Bush and crew should be tried as war criminals for their acts, including the torture and rape of children.

The problem is that Brooks fails to hold those in this country accountable for deeds he willing condemns in others.

I don't disagree with Brooks on that. But I also think Brooks is projecting. He's the spokesmodel for the neo-con warmongers. His words can be equally applied to himself and his Weekly Standard WSJ AEI PNAC AIPAC OSP DPB cronies. Blood on their hands.

And I just would not be surprised if Brooks trolled DU for ideas. I think Maureen Dowd does it too. I'm sure they hit a lot of boards and blogs.

13. I can (almost) understand the thing about....

The "sheer pleasure of killing..." It's when he adds "and dying" on to that that he loses me.

How, exactly, does one derive pleasure from dying? I can imagine a sadist or serial killer describe the feelings they get from killing as "pleasure."

But dying?

Brooks is a smug, girly-hand-flailing, overpaid putz.
