| I've been fascinated with Republicans since |
|
about 1964. My Grampa was a prominent PA and defense attorney for years who took little or no payment to defend the poor. He was man of impeccable morals and values. I remember he was the person most responsible for enlightening me about the Grand Old Party decades ago. My entire family is Democratic and has been for decades. I remember so many years ago my Dad and his father would sit on the front porch and talk about the Republicans for hours. "God Damn Republicans" was their most frequently used description. I thank my parents and grandparents for planting FDR New Deal roots in me that been my foundation for my political beliefs. This current crop of Repugs goes beyond fascination. They simply are just too bizarre to comprehend. Is there anything left for them to lie about or screw up? Are there two Americas? Why is personal wealth their God? They are precious.
I'm so proud to be a Democrat these days.

My grandfather was a doctor, who served in WWII (France, I think), and too little or no payment to treat the poor. However, he wasn't much of a liberal or democrat, hating all politicians and always voting socialist.
I have a theory that grandpa was a socialist and my family doesn't want to admit it. He did vote for Nixon, which makes no sense and kind of kills my theory. But he had his convictions, putting people's health before his own personal wealth.
My other grandfather was a railroad worker, union man. Served in WWII was a POW in Japan after Corregidor. I don't think anyone wanted to see terrorists brought to justice more than him and he died opposed to both the way we handled Afghanistan and the war in Iraq.
The rest of my family is a mixed bag of conservatives and moderate liberals. My mum and dad and stepfather are all pretty much moderate liberals, but very adamant about core issues such as health care, education, choice, and the economy. My mom has turned out to be quite an environmentalist. She, like her father, distrusts politicians, but she LOATHES Bush in a different way.

Iraq tragedy, global warming, oil crisis, pollution, global warming, joblessness, poverty, corporate corruption, aging crumbling infrastructure, racism and on and on. Repuggies own the federal government and they still sit on their fat asses whining about "taxshes". It's too bizarre.
