Anyone yet seen/read my new book The Terror Timeline?

My book The Terror Timeline was released on Tuesday and appears to be doing well. It's been bubbling just under the 100 spot on Amazon.com's list of most purchased books for the past few days. I was wondering though, if anyone here at DU has managed to buy or read it yet? I'm also curious what kind of placement it's getting in bookstores.

1. Atlanta review

By the way, my book got its first book "review" yesterday in the Atlanta Journal and Constitution. It's not much of a review though, as the reviewer doesn't really give any opinions. I'm told the person hasn't actually read the book yet, and will have a much fuller review once actually done with the book.

"Timeline" is an unusual amalgam of a book --- part encyclopedia, part almanac, part investigative report --- that purports to explain the failures that permitted the Sept. 11 attacks to happen, why those things went wrong and who was responsible.

Thompson draws on thousands of public reports to try to connect all the dots of Sept. 11. He cites official government sources, reliable mainstream media, the Fleet Street press, various Asian media that will be obscure to most readers, certain nonfiction writers and others. While his sources cover the spectrum, Thompson does take the admirable step of sourcing nearly every fact in the book. Some may find this tedious; most will welcome it.

One of the most compelling portions of the book is Thompson's 123-page chronology "The Day of 9/11," which begins at 5:53 a.m. with Mohammed Atta and Abdulaziz Alomari caught on videotape as they went through security at the Portland, Maine, airport. It ends at 11:30 p.m. with: "Before going to sleep, President Bush writes in his diary, "The Pearl Harbor of the 21st century took place today. . . . We think it's Osama bin Laden."

What occurs during those 17-plus hours is still riveting reading. Michael Moore's "Fahrenheit 9/11" had a field day with how Bush reacted to news of the attacks as he sat in an elementary school classroom. "The Terror Timeline," though, quotes six media sources as offering at least three conflicting accounts of what the president heard, who spoke to him and how he responded.

8. Yeah, I picked it up from Barnes and Noble

Had to look for it, though. They didn't have it in the front of the store with the other new releases, which was unfortunate.

Haven't yet read it, but at first glance I can see that I am going to miss the color coding and cross-referencing that the website affords. I know the very nature of the web is perfectly suited for that kind of stuff but it would have been nice if it would've had a little better information design.

Great work still and it will become a well-used reference book that I'll always have at the ready for my frequent 9/11 timeline discussions that I seem to always get into with people.

Good luck with the book, I hope it sells far and wide.

Yeah,
It's a bummer it couldn't be color coded, but to make up for that I broke the info up differently. Now there are 20 chapters instead of 10 color codes. I like the new categories and will rework the web categories to fit those. Let me know what you think of them.

14. I saw it prominently displayed with other political books in B&N

in Edina (suburb of Minneapolis) Minnesota.

However, I didn't buy it because I'm going to Japan in two days, and I needed to buy souvenir books of Minnesota for my business contacts.

I'll be on the Accent Radio Network today, at 11 AM. The program is called the "Right Balance" and appears to be some kind of right wing thing, so that'll be interesting.
