| My daughter finally got out of New Orleans!!!!!!!!! |
|
She just called from Houston (one of her Roomies lives there). It took 18 hours for the drive that usually takes 5-6 hours. I'm SOOOOOO freaking happy that she's out of harm's way. Now maybe i can get some sleep!! :grouphug: :boring:

| 1. Congratulations, I am so glad for you |

My daughter and granddaughter evacuated Monday PM from Panama City Beach (as soon as it was announced that her school would be closed) and beat the evacuation rush. They got in 1:30 AM Tuesday morning. It was such a huge relief to have them safe and sound with me.
I know the anxiety of anyone faced with the possible NO disaster must have been even greater.
I'm so happy for you that all are safe.

get some rest now. I'm sure your son is as dog tired as my daughter. Hope he reaches his final destination soon.

| 5. so glad she got out - we just watched the weather channel and saw the |

massive gridlock moving away from New Orleans - looking like frame by frame slo-mo video.

| 7. I'm still waiting for word from my brother |
|
He closed his business at noon yesterday in Gretna, La. and said he was going to head for a friends in Little Rock. I have heard nothing since and am getting a bit anxious. He always forgets to take his cell phone and he has had recent heart problems.
Let us all hold good thoughts for all the Duers and their families in the danger zone.

| 8. Quite a few are coming to Houston |
|
Interstate I-10 from New Orleans through Houston is jam packed but it's moving. Traffic reports this morning say traffic is gridlocked in Beaumont. I also have friends coming from New Orleans to stay. At least they're getting out early - Ivan is still 300 mi. offshore. New Orleans is 9 feet below sea level so it may be some time before they're able to get back. Glad that they're all safe!!
