Why do some go ga-ga over Wesley Clark for prez?

Don't get me wrong. I love the guy. I think he would make an excellent VP but there are many CURRENT candidates who have more GOVERNING experience who are more qualified as president. If people think his military experience will make him immune from attacks from the Bushistas and the reactionary-right, I have one name for you, John McCain.

1. Totally different situation

Mccain was destroyed in southern republican primary. The BFEE waited until south carolina and then attacked McCain for somehow supporting abotion, gay marriage, and for having an african american adopted daughter. That's not going to hurt Clark since we'll never win the states in which those kind of attacks will work.

2. Clark does have a sense of governing experience

in his military experience, it is definetly better experience than * had before he was illegaling put in office. As for going gaga, I think the attraction of this candidate is that he really does cross political lines, while he has a strong progressive message he is appealing to the moderates in both parties where national security is an issue. He gives the Dems platform exposure without being tagged "liberal" by the media. Don't get me wrong I consider myself a liberal but the RW has managed to turn that word into a four letter word and I think that he can debunk the myth that Dems are weak on national security and that being a liberal is a bad thing, he has the opportunity to get the general public to listen to the Dem message. Whether he wins the nomination or not he will bring our message out and in a more positive manner. Go ahead anyone that wants to flame, but facts are facts and the general population is motivated by fear and this WH has that down pat and most American are to lazy or busy to find out the facts for themselves, so an attractive candidate that appeals to the middle of the road will only help the party not hurt. I hope to be working on either a Clark or Dean campaign after the primaries.

3. because he can beat Bush better than most of the candidate?

maybe that's why? I don't understand why some go ga-ga for Dean myself, who is in my opinion the least desirable candidate, except for Lieberman or Larouche I suppose.

Clark, Dean, Kerry, Lieberman...
Because they think he represents thier views best and/or can beat Bush.

5. I think he'll end up as the vice presidential candidate

My guess is that the whole run for president is to get his name out there, become very attractive as a presidential candidate, and then become the vice presidential candidate, someone so great for that job that the presidential candidate would be crazy to ignore.

7. Why Vice-President?

Why would someone as accomplished as Clark be positioning himself as VP?
Really no VP (except Bush the Elder) has moved on to President without some tragedy propelling him there. Probably not the best political move.
Clark has the mojo now to get the presidency.

just picture clark in his uniform, four stars on his collar, and bush in his "outfit" on the aircraft carrier. it really shows how big a fraud and joke shrub really is.

8. they love the idea of Clark

More than they love the actual person. The DraftClark website is full of feel-good generalities about where he stands on the issues, but they are hearsay, rather than directly from him. One exception: He is outspoken about the Iraq quagmire, but that is it.

All we got on TV from him were coy remarks such as the Republicans have "good people" and that the Democrats are "bubbling with ideas".

But they love the IDEA of someone with military stature beating Bush. Hell, I'd vote for a rotting yak carcass over Bush, so I truly understand.

Remember, Dems used to cream their panties over Powell too. Look where that got us.

10. Hmmm

My feeling is that the people who are ga ga for Clark know the person (even if it was just a handshake). It's sort of like meeting a minor celebrity at a mall. You never forget.

I'm not anti-Clark but if he wants to run he has to get into the race. He's not going to get the same reception from people who don't know him (to whom he's an unknown quantity).

That's what is funny about the pro-Clark people in this forum. They don't seem to perceive this gap (and others want to slap them).
