NYT Article: CBS will concede it was deceived about memos.

Apparently my previous post was worded deceptively. My alpologies.

The comment about this being one helluva Rovian ploy stand. The fact that the WH released these documents makes me think that either a) it was a ploy to discredit the "liberal media" and defuse the TANG AWOL questions or B) The WH believed the docs were authentic BECAUSE WHAT THEY SAY IS TRUE, or BOTH.

So now any questions or stories aboutt Bush's deserrtion will be met by "Oh, more fake documents?" or "Been there, done that".

Personally, I never understood the undue attention given the AWOL story. It is illustrative of Bush's lack of any character going way back, but his present day crimes and atrocities are much more troublesome.

Oh, yes, and I still think CBS should run some exposés on the ultra-deceptive reporting by Fox, CNN and MSRNC. They have been slamming CBS non-stop, and the gloves should be off.

They should do a whole one-week series on "Outfoxed". Aren't they sick of Bernie Goldberg going on Fox every week for the last 4 years lying about them with his "Bias" bullshit? I sure as hell am. Fight back, CBS!!!

It seems this TANG guy Burkett has it in for Bush, and probably typed them up himself based on originals he saw, or notes he had...Burkett wanted to hit back at Bush, but he blew it by going too far with this...

Burkett is saying he had another source, but I thinik hes coverin his own ass on this....there is no other source.

The only thing that could be Rovian is that CBS had shown the docs to the White House, and the WH apparently didnt comment on them...so they gave CBS rope to hang itself. If the WH was upfront they would have said "hey, we think these are fake, or probably not the real thing" or something like that.

So I figure the WH knew they wherent real, and let CBS hang itself.

In any case, CBS has a serious journalitic black eye here, and is somewhat discredited as a news source ..esp since they blew it on such a high-profile/high-impact story.
