| The Real Problem With Media: Voters Still Think It's Liberal! |
|
From Rasmussen Reports:
Survey of 1,000 Likely Voters
September 18, 2004
Is Presidential campaign coverage unbiased, biased to help Kerry, or biased to help Bush? No Bias Help Kerry Help Bush CBS 33% 37% 10% ABC 36% 30% 10% NBC 39% 28% 11% CNN 39% 25% 12% Fox 8% 7% 34%
RasmussenReports.com -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- September 19, 2004--Television news networks would like to see themselves as a team of impartial journalists working on behalf of their audience. However, a Rasmussen Reports survey found that voters see an entirely different picture. Generally speaking, they believe ABC News, CBS News, NBC News, CNN, and the Fox News Channel are biased to help one campaign or the other.
Between 33% and 39% of Americans believe that each of the five major broadcast news outlets is unbiased. On balance, four of the five are believed to be helping the Kerry campaign. One, Fox News, is believed to be helping the Bush campaign.
CBS is seen as the most biased--37% believe that network news team is trying to help the Kerry campaign. Only 33% believe it presents the news in an unbiased manner.
-----------------------------------------------------------
This is truly scary. Fully 64% think that CNN is either biased in favor of Kerry (25%) or not biased (39%) with only 12% thinking it's biased for Bush. Meanwhile 60% of Bush voters think Fox is unbiased.
This is truly the greatest triumph for the right wing. They own the media and the people still think it's against them.
We've got lots of work to do...

If the media are biased toward Kerry and the Democrats, why the hell have the Republicans been so successful the past 30 years? People never seem to think of that.
The same mindset that buys creationism will gladly buy supply-side economics, compassionate conservatism, and the myth of liberal bias in the media.

I still say the FCC and the Fairness Doctrine will be the keys.
Maybe a "truth in advertising" law as well.
Liberal media my cottage cheese ass.

and then walk away. Fuck them. They are too stupid to make democracy work. They will go the way Darwin told us, thinning their own herd by continuing to support the very people who are running them into the ground. When they're gone, our votes will count more. Good riddance.

I just want to crash my head against a wall, but all I get is a bloody forehead.
If Bush wins, we get what we deserve. Plain and simple.

| 5. If the media is liberal, why are Repubs against the Fairness Doctrine? |
|
I've asked many Republicans that question and I get the same stupid stare every time.
I've heard Limbaugh and Hannity both complain about the "liberal media" AND denounce the Fairness Doctrine in the space of 3 minutes. It's ludicrous.

"stop watching the liberal media" or some such nonsense. How many "stop watching the conservative media" signs do I see? NONE! We need to find a better way of getting our message out.

were it not so ridiculous. I refuse to hit their site because they have gone so far to the right. Why are poeple holding onto the idea of an unbiased/liberal media? It does NOT exist on this planet! Real journalism is dead and I can imagine fully state run media in the not too distant future (you know, to "protect" the masses) if that shit fool gets back in our WH!

mike malloy mentioned this the other night.
Remember how long and extreme the coverage of Gary Condit a Democratic politician when he possibly was involved in the murder of a girl he's having an affair with. Nonstop 24/7 coverage for months and months.
A dead body shows up in the office of Joe Scarborough turns out it's a women who worked for him. I have barely even heard of this. Was it even reported in the news?
