What if the Republicans could write a new Constitution for USA?
Just something to think about. What if they decided, especially if they were to increase their majority in both Houses, that in this new age of Terror the USA should have a New Constitution? How do you think it would differ from the one we have today that is not followed? What would they leave out and what would they add? Do you feel that they would take away rights we currently possess. Just how Authoritative would they make it. Would State Governors be appointed by the President instead of voted in by the people for instance. Would it be made so the Republicans could consolidate their power to an extent that they could never lose it? Almost what we have going on today, what with the redistricting and weighting of the courts with Conservative Judges. Scary thought isn't it? It's going on in Russia right now. Could quite easily happen here.

1. with all due respect . . . that's one hell of a leap of logic . . .
Edited on Sun Sep-19-04 08:34 AM by TaleWgnDg
you assume that God's Own Party (G.O.P.) can write and read? in complete sentences? using multi-syllable words? complex sentences? . . .

edited to add:

"You teach a child to read, and he or her will be able to
pass a literacy test." - GWBush

"(T)he illiteracy level of our children are appalling."
— GWBush

"What is life choices about?" — GWBush, speaking to
student athletes

"If you're like me you won't remember everything
you did here." — GWBush, addressing the graduates
of Yale University, his alma mater, New Haven, CT,
May 21, 2001

"To those of you who received honors, awards,
and distinctions, I say, well done. And to the C
students, I say you too can be president of the
United States." — George W. Bush, Yale University
commencement address, 33 years after his own
graduation from his Yale alma mater, May 2001.

2. Bill of Rights gone out the window
except the Second Amendment, which would be altered to make it mandatory for every family to own at least one firearm and be able to operate it. "Family" would be defined as only those Republican voting Christians, of course. Everyone else would be deemed, or could be deemed an "enemy combatant" with no rights at all. Torture would be condoned and corporations would be declared to be viable human beings, along with zygotes. In either case, they would have more rights than women, which would be considered chattel and be counted on censuses as 3/5 of a human being, unless they signed a pledge, witnessed by their husband, that they would always obey and follow any rule he made-then they would be counted as 4/5 of a human being.
