| RFK Jr. must scare the shit out of the BFEE & the media whores |
|
That's becuase his message is focused, informed, clear, concise, devistating, and IRREFUTABLE.
He's been on Hannity, who won't engage him. He was on Washington Journal this morning but they didn't give him much time. The best any Repub caller could do was to say that mercury occurs naturally and that the Kennedy's must inbreed. Very helpful.
CSPAN ran a discussion at a Boston Church during the Dem Convention with RFK, Conasen, Toni Morrison, and Al Franken. The others had little new to add, but RFK was, to quote Joe the moderator, "extraordinary." I was so moved by what he said that I wanted to tape, duplicate, and distribute his talk. I haven't done it yet, but I'd still like to do it.
RFK Jr. should be one of our most influential spokespersons, but that he's not is certainly testimony to the extent the media will go to silence those who might do serious and irreprable damage to the chimp.

We need a new generation Kennedy as a powerhouse in national politics. Unfortunately Teddy's kid, Patrick, isn't the one who can rekindle Camelot--but I think RFK, Jr. can.

| 3. I always believed his father was the best of the Kennedys. |

Bobby would have been a great president. His assassination is seared in my m,emory even more than that of his brother.
Looks to me like RFK Jr. is a lot like his father.

| 5. RFK isn't just a talking head. |
|
The man's a career environmentalist. He's been working on these issues longer than most current media figures have been in the business. And he scares Republicans because he's got facts, credibility, and gravitas (three things you won't find on FoxNews). Most spokesmen you come across are usually hired mouths for the cause, whose knowledge of a particular subject is normally circumscribed by the briefing memo they received the morning of whatever talk show appearance they're making. This applies to our side as well as theirs - I'm sick of Dems on Crossfire completely missing the easy rebuttal, only to repeat a talking point with marginally tangental relevance. RFK can cite environmental studies, current and historical, from memory. He has a message that nobody is capable of arguing against.
I have a friend that had an interview with RFK a few months ago. This friend summarized it as "I didn't interview, so much as sat in awe while this man spoke."

| 7. Bob Somerby has addressed this very point |
|
Bob, the guy who does the Daily Howler, theorizes that if our guys, the so-called good guys, go too far they won't be invited back to these shows. That, along with them often being flat out uninformed and un-prepared, is why the Repub lies and distortions go un-refuted so often. RFK, as you say, does not fall into that camp.
On another note, it was refreshing to hear Bill Maher deal with the 87 billion issue on Larry King the other night. His in your face simplistic and accurate expanation of the thing is something all Dem commentators should watch.

Which I find very refreshing -- because I'm not afraid to, either.
