I know there was a lot posted here on this topic especially back during teh whole prescription drug coverage thing. Was hoping someone still had some links I could send her.

My parents wanted to leave too, but they have insurance discounts tied up in their membership that they cannot afford to lose.

She changed over to the AARP-sponsored plan at CONSIDERABLE savings over what she had been paying.
I told her, after she got the AARP quote, to call her present companies and offer them a chance to counter. Her car insurance agent, who she had been with for over 20 years with only 2 windshield claims flat out refused to re-figure the premium. Her homeowners carrier almost said "Fucking" when they asked her if she was nuts...
As for why the AARP is so "Evil" around here, they got on the bandwagon with Chimpy's prescription card sham when it was announced. Those DU'ers who tore-up their AARP cards haven't read where AARP has pretty much repented from that earlier support.
$12 a year saves my girlfriend over $600 in insurance premiums. when you make less than $30,000 a year, that is NOTHING to sneeze at.
