Tonight's "60 Minutes" got to the heart of the matter. They changed the story from the authenticity of the documents to the content of the documents.

The secretary who typed most of the memos said they weren't authentic, but that the content was. She also said that the other pilots had no respect for Bush and felt he was getting away with things no one else would have.

The documents in dispute could very well be a Karl Rove operation, but this lady spit on the form and went to the content.

if you want or whatever. But I have made a fool out of myself defending that DOCUMENT-not what was in it-as legitimate. That the information behind it is factual is not the issue. Just before I came back in the house I argued with my father on the phone about the letter's authenticity for I do not know how long. I feel burned and foolish. Coupled with the fact that Kerry has not released his own military records, I look like an even bigger fool. I am getting really tired of the whole mess. I want to just turn the TV off and every political outlet available to me until November 3. After the election, I can see if I get to stay in the country or move out for fear of having ShrubNazis after me for being a librul terraist.

this has every bearing on the fact that Bush lied to get us into war, has sent people to die for a cause when he was unwilling to step up to the plate in a war he himself supported but refused to fight in. His adminsitration is made up of others like himself who dodged Vietnam and have "retired" many of the military experts with experience in the field from the Pentagon because they didn't agree with this adminstrations assessment of how best to fight this war (and it turned out they were absolutely correct.)

I don't even blame them for dodging Vietnam. I was behind all the draft dodgers on that one, myself. Same for anyone who dodges service in this illegal war. The thing that matters is their parading around as the military experts they are not, supporting and creating illegal wars, and sending our military to die for their hideous ideology rather than in actual defense of our country.

So, it is a real issue.

Dan Rather hasn't shown all his cards yet.

ALSO: I'm now a devoted fan of CBS Evening News, and I noticed tonight that he is reporting Iraqi Deaths as Iraqi Deaths. He did not call them :

insurgents
terrorists
dead enders
fundamental extremists
Saddam loyalists
or any of the other negative spin names.

Tonight, he reported that 31 Iraqis were killed in the engagement.

The bush* Invasion of Iraq has morphed into bush*s War on the Iraqi People!
