| Poll question: Poll:Is Dean really the one that can beat Bush? |
|
Edited on Wed Aug-27-03 10:00 PM by jfkennedy
Granted Wesley Clark is way up in the polls and all Deans PR has been sponsored by the Republican Party but in 2004 whom will you vote for?
Poll: Who will be elected the next president in 2004?

Maybe next time he should put "Who is the only one who can beat Bush?" and put Clark's name as the only choice. That way the result will be the one wanted.

and ignoring people like Edwards and Graham, the one's 9 out of 10 political scientists would agree are the one's with the best chances in the general
a couple of months ago it was all about "it's between Dean and Kerry" and ever since Dean won the seocnd quarter fundraising battle, it's been "dean might as well be the winner", contrast that with the completely ignored surprise fundraising victory that Edwards had in the first quarter(while he was doing well in the NH polls)

...he's a Clarkite. And it's typical Democratic behavior to attack each other like wolves while the real wolves laugh their asses off just over the hill. You think Rove isn't drooling over this? Shameful. We can all support our own candidates, but baseless, stupid accusations and the like do NOT help.

|
You have 10 slots, so you could have listed all 9 current Dem contenders and a bush.
Also, you asked two questions: who will you vote for, and who will win. Thus, several people have polled for bush because they consider him a likely winner.
Finally, you make an unsupported assertion that Dean's PR has been sponsored by the republican party. That, from all I can gather, is a crock of rather slimey effluent.
In short, if there is a subset of the Democratic contenders that can beat bush at all, Dean is among them.

| 14. PNAC picked bush for the anchor job because he's disposable |
|
They're not stupid. They knew that some sort of election show would be hard to avoid.
Dumping bush and "putting a Democrat face" on the PNAC strategy just as there is all this talk of "putting an Iraqi face" on Iraq will be an effective way of stifling dissent while continuing on the path to achieving the junta's goals and objectives, both military and financial.
It appears that Karl Rove, AIPAC and even the old Butcher himself, Ariel Sharon, have agreed that Dean seems to be the winner of the "most likely to do what he's told award," although it is early days yet, and there may be someone even more similar to bush being talked to in some room somewhere.
Whoever the lucky guy is, he'll have access to a bunker.
Unfortunately, we won't.

Trust me I know that liberals are unpopular and that all these votes for Dean are votes for Bush. In 2004 if Dean is on the ticket it will be 44% Dean and 56% Bush. If Wesley Clark is on the ticket it will be 73% Clark 27% Bush. I can prove this by the fact that the media does not publish Clark being the winner.

I don’t think you are full of it you are just full of propaganda. What are you basing it on some poll of 600 “likely” voters? Or do you live in a gated community and think the whole world is Republican like? If Dean can energize the voters to come out and vote Bush will not stand a chance in a fair election. If Clark is running against him no one will care who wins.

I keep seeing this wierd shit, where the Kucinich guys will post that Dean isn't liberal and the Lieberman fans say Dean is too liberal. Reality is probably somewhere in-between.
Dean is DLC.
Dean is also a solid campaigner.
Dean knows how to give a speech.
You write him off far too soon.

There wont be a canidate with enough left to beat shrub. You will not find a canidate that agrees with you 100% unless you are lying to yourself. Why cant we all talk about the ideas and what they are for instead of trashing each other for wanting a good canidate. Do you follow Dean, Kerry, clark, ect. Without question? That is no different then bieng an anti-dittohead and blindly following your canidate. I dont care who, well some (Lieberman) I dont want. But the infighting is just playing into the rupukes hands and believe me they are loving it.

Bush has millions of sponsors that will vote for Dean because he will divide the swing vote. I am not a green sellout, I just want to let you know the facts that Dean voters will not win against bush in 2004 2008 or 2012.
The Democrats lost in 2002. Lost I repeat lost.
All this party line unity is b***s** and is just a vote for Bush.

|
He's not the wide eyed liberal you're calling him. He's also not the disgusting conservative others are calling him. He explains his positions with force, and in plain language. His foreign policy is based much more in the real world than Bush's, and is much closer to the average person's view. What would cause someone looking at both Dean and Bush to vote for Bush? Less health care? Hatred of gays? We've already lost those people so don't worry about them.

You guys must really be getting desperate. Is this where & how you're taking your blind polls?
I wish we could get you guys to stop because you're doing your cause more harm than good. On second thought, naw- don't stop because you're helping everyone's cause but your own.
I'm not embarrassed for you but I am embarrassed for the sincere Clark supporting Old DUers who get associated with this tripe only because they have the misfortune of supporting the same candidate.

From what I've seen of his background, Clark might be a great guy to run for the POTUS. Or he might be the perfect Secretary of Defense. Or he could be some nutcase who has bigass skeletons waiting in the closet.
I don't know.
But doesn't it seem strange that certain Clarkites accuse Dean of having GOP backers? The time-honored tactic is for republicans to accuse others of doing what they already do. Makes me wonder about the "hard sell" I'm seeing from them.

Someone is all over the media, called a liberal all over the media (to the contrary), and the base builds, of course the majority are going to vote for him.
When someone is marginalized in the media, and is a true liberal... well, story is different.
It all makes me very suspicious.

Look, it's fine to be for Wesley Clark. It's fine not to like Howard Dean. Can you PLEASE not insult the tens of thousands of people who have been to Dean's meet-ups and volunteered for his campaign? We're the ones who are helping Dean surge, not the Republican Party.
Really, it's just rude.

Neither has been ruled out yet. BTW, I am undecided, but posts like this are simply so intellectually dishonest as to be a big part of the brain drain on DU.
Post as honest poll with all of the candidates or don't post a poll.
Seems to me to be looking for a flame and NOT a discussion.
