| The day after the election, I heard the following scenario... |
|
on AAR.
Should Iran decide to pre-emptively defend themselves against a US invasion, our 120,000-troop force in Iraq could find themselves trapped in the area between western Iran and the central Iraq insurgents.
The more I read about Iran's nukes, the more worried I become that this president and his administration may not have considered this angle with regards to the safety of our troops. Please tell me why I shouldn't be worried about this happening? Please?

The administration obviously didn't even think about the dangers of Iraq, much less those if iran.

but the * administration would love nothing more than a full assault against U.S. forces in Iraq by the Revolutionary Guard. What better excuse for massive bombing campaigns against major cities in Iran?
The slaughter of American troops in Iraq would be a dream come true for the neo-cons, hence their incessant drumbeating about Iranian nukes right now. :grr:

A. Iran doesn't YET have nukes. B. They know that any attack on our troops in Iraq will be met with MASSIVE retaliation. 80% of the USAF is not engaged in Iraq and available for Iran. 120,000 troops is still less than 20% of total US ground forces.

| 7. And we have our own Nukes |

Plus the bunker buster bombs we gave to Israel.
Actually, I wouldn't be suprised if their objective was to provoke an Iranian attack. Iran's got lotsa oil and lotsa targets and once they are brought to their knees, who will dare stand up to the American juggernaut.

| 10. Iran would smash us. You can only bomb for so long and a nuke |
|
is a disaster for everyone. Iran also has a contract with Russia. If they are invaded, they will help them. Remember, the UN says Iran has no nukes and that the US charges are bogus, just like they were with Iraq.

Iran would have slim chance against the US. Russia would NOT aide Iran if Iran attacked US troops currently in Iraq (the premise of this post).

at this time. See, we're considered such a rogue state, so lacking in diplomatic skills, that the rest of the world is going ahead without us, knowing we know nothing beyond bombing the hell out of everybody who gets in our way.

Because our planes would blow the them all into little pieces before they ever got close to us. Playing defense is one hell of alot easier than playing offense. There is not a snowballs chance in hell they would be that stupid.

"Iran's nuclear weapons manufacturing capabilities and facilities" or someother such non-sense, as * has referred to Iraq's capabilities.
