| The Government is 'Representing', but not Representing the American people |
|
Edited on Wed Nov-24-04 11:49 AM by ck4829
Back in the time of the American Revolution, one of the problems that early Americans faced was 'Taxation without Representation'.
Today, America faces a similar problem.
It is 'Representation without the American People'
The Republicans who have won (stolen or otherwise) do not represent us or the vast majority of Americans.
The 'People' are not Big Corporations, Groups that belong to the Christian Right, Polluters, Pharmaceutical Companies. However these groups (and not us) are represented by our people in Congress.
Need proof?
Lawsuit Immunity, Exemption from Taxes, Outsourcing, the legal ability to Discriminate (religious contractors can do this), Contracts in Iraq, and more.
Do the things I have listed above serve us? Or, do they serve someone else?
Whatever the case, I want to go back to the days when Congress served the American People and not groups that are not.

| 1. This is a governent of the neo-cons |

by the neo-cons, and for the neo-cons.
The only people who have a problem with that are those disgruntled elements who are NOT neo-cons.

for a long, long time. It's really sad. Everyone I know complains about how corrupt the government is, how the politicians are all liars and cheaters, but they don't want to do anything about it. I don't get it.

the phrase "Don't hate the media, BECOME the media," right? Well, replace the word media with government. If more of us "little people" would get involved in politics ourselves, running for city councils and school boards and moving up as appropriate, we might not have to elect our representatives from this special senator caste.
