my country left me. I always believed in the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the basic principles that were supposed to be what America stood for, but the US has been moving steadily in the wrong direction since Nixon - even when the Dems controlled congress there was little progress, even when Clinton was elected with a Dem House and Senate there wasn't alot of progress made and then the right bounced back even stronger.
Here, it's not perfect, but our Conservatives are about where your Democrats are politically and they are a minority, Canada has been moving slowly but steadily in the right direction since about the time Nixon was elected. Here I am working toward progress in a country that where the vast majority are truly interested in progress and where human rights, education, health care, infrastructure, and poverty relief are all considered more important than either tax cuts or the military. In our most conservative province, Alberta, people were asked how they wanted the Government to spend a sizable budget surplus and tax cuts came in 9th - with all those things I mentioned above ranking higher - and that's our 'red' state.
Also Canada is highly thought of in most of the globe, scientific innovators, and peacekeepers. I'm not saying give up and walk away, or that Canada is perfect. Just don't let the love of a piece of real estate keep you from getting the most out of your life and your efforts.
