Why people vote Republican

People - lots of people - loved this guy. Conservatism, however much people here may disagree with it, makes sense to many. Bush voters still have hope that our current president can achieve what Reagan set out in this speech. Many conservatives believe what Jefferson said - government is a corrupting force, and power is best left in the hands of the people.

My point: don't hate Republicans. They're not brainwashed morons. Just disagree with them, and maybe even convince them that Bush is no conservative. I think this is the best way to help Bush lose support.

Many Americans honestly agree that peace is a long road, often through war. Listen to the last 5 minutes of the speech and you'll understand what they think.

As wrong as they may be, Republicans think that what's going on in Iraq is the right thing, and that the world will become a better place because of it.

The evidence is all out there in plain sight and they don't care!

- Record deficit spending
- Biggest increase in non-defense government spending in decades
- Bigger government, less individual liberty (Homeland Security, PATRIOT Act, Total Information Awareness)

Sorry, but conservatives themselves have to be stupid if they still think Bush is conservative. No amount of "convincing" is going to get through their thick skulls.

17. They have a delusional view that they're voting for conservatism.

Most, if not all, of these people are simply afraid of change. They don't like change, they're deathly afraid of it and they think that by voting Republican that they are staving off that change.

Republicans in power have done a great job at convincing people that change is inherently evil and that there used to be some great golden era that we have long since past. They tell these unassuming conservative voters that they can bring them back to this wonderful non-existent time. All they offer is a mere fantasy and so many people believe what they say that they are blinded to obvious facts.

Republicans in power have made it their sole strategy to confuse the American public, and have done a pretty good job at it too.

I think Michael Douglas said it best in "The American President,"
