I like it when my fellow DU'ers call out Conservatives when they aren't being so compassionate.
But, I wonder, has anyone really believed that Conservatism could be compassionate?
Compassionate Conservatism? That's an oxymoron to me!
Conservatism, as we know it today, is inhumane, factually incorrect, brutal, intolerant, bigoted, oppressive, immoral, and just plain evil.
These 'values' above are anything but moral values and they are anything but compassion.
Is it Compassionate Conservatism when:
George W. Bush wants a stop to the Florida recount?
George W. Bush goes on vacation, and thus, fails to prevent 9/11?
George W. Bush lies to the American people to go to war?
I could go on and on about compassionate conservatism and moral values: Conservative Televangelists who are friends with Brutal Dictators, Republican Politicians who have the rules changed so they can stay in office, Republican Activists who scream about moral values (but, in reality, they are very immoral), and more, much more.
The Republican Party isn't the party of Conservatism, it isn't the party of Compassion, and it definitely isn't the party of Moral Values.
