The tsunamis last Sunday have humbled us all and made us realize just how insignificant our petty concerns are.
We must all come to grips with the fact that we live in a nation that is often on the side of evil, in spite of our efforts to prevent it. During the next year things are going to get worse, we might as well face it. May God help us all to persevere. Perseverence in the face of insurmountable odds seems foolhardy, and yet it is all that we can do. We cannot change the outcome of the election, but we must persist in our efforts to uncover whatever fraud may have occurred and expose it to the light of day. There is very little likelihood that we will prevent the onslaught of conservative legislation, and yet may God help us to speak out against it. The war will likely continue, the economy will stagnate, the dollar will continue to sink, working people will continue to struggle to make ends meet - and there's not a damn thing we can do about it. But we can make our voices heard.
Life is short, and we know that any one of us could be gone in an instant. We stand up for what's right, not because we have a snowball's chance in hell of winning, but because we cannot face ourselves/our consciences/our God if we STAND BY AND DO NOTHING. So let us pledge to continue to fight for what matters, but also to remember to love each other and be thankful for what we do have in our lives.
Bless you all, and Happy New Year.
