Forget the 2006 and 2008 elections. THIS is the most critical year for the Democratic Party.
It will be critical in how the Democrats handle Bush's agenda which will be the more right-wing than his last administration. It will also be critical in who gets the DNC Chair. I am hoping Howard Dean gets the post. He will bring new vitality to the Democrats and a desparately needed new direction. Wellington Webb would be good too. The one person I really have a problem with is Tim Roemer. He has DLC written all over him. I find it amazing that Nancy Pelosi would endorse Roemer. This man supported the Filner Amendment in 2001, proxy vote on privatiztion of Social Security. As a congressman from Indiana, he supported this. He is also a member of the DLC. Take a look at some of his record. He tried to be Republican Lite. The Democratic Party does not need this if it is going to survive.
http://www.issues2002.org/IN/Tim_Roemer.htmIf Roemer gets this chair position, then it's over. The Democratic Party will truly be dead. Then all progressives and lefties will have to come together to start up a third party to counter the two-party system.
