made me smile. And ride to his rescue, of course, which in this case was that online poll. I voted and noticed a sharp increase in KO's numbers vs. his nemesis in this poll, Darth Anderson Cooper, who is probably an OK guy when he isn't competing with our KO. I just checked, and as of 8:03 KO has pulled to within 3 percentage ponts of Darth Cooper -- 21% to 18%. I'm betting that DC has some brigade pulling for him somewhere, too. (But they can't possibly have our ambiance.)

It was very sweet.

It was May and me being, well Southern, only brought clothes for warm weather because, in Tennessee, May is 80 degrees.
There was this street fair thingie down below our hotel and all these food and clothing vendors were lined up everywhere. I was walking around shivering and the guy pulled this NICE flanel-like blue NYPD jacket out of his patrol car and handed it to me. I'm very glad it was covered on KO's show. This secret spy network and the "hollowing out" of the CIA to put all the spypower under Rumsfeld in the DOD is the 2nd major story in Seymour Hersch's New Yorker story. (The other is about the secret military targeting in Iran.)

The New Yorker editorial staff is showing some real courage and public spirit by publishing these Sy Hersh blockbusters, even though they must increase their single-copy sales by doing it. The blivet** cartel does NOT care for dissent or leaks of the horrible truth about what they do.

I've subscribed to the New Yorker for many years, and there has very rarely been an issue that didn't have at least one story in it that I was very glad to have, and usually there are multiple ones. And the cartoons are like no others! Great satire and commentary balanced with welcome humor. I gave up on Time and Newsweek long ago. Even Scientific American went so far downhill after the ownership change some years ago that I gave up that subscription too. But the New Yorker keeps going strong, and with these major investigative journalism articles, is doing a good thing for the country.

The man's entire gestalt has changed! He looks more like a sportscaster in this photo -- some of them play it sort of slapstick.

Interesting how he's remade himself over time. I wonder how much was his own ideas and how much was advice from knowledgable people?
