Polls were largely deserted all day in many cities of the Sunni Triangle north and west of the capital, particularly Fallujah, Ramadi and Beiji. In Baghdad's mainly Sunni Arab area of Azamiyah, the neighborhood's four polling centers did not open at all, residents said.


A low Sunni turnout could undermine the new government that will emerge from the vote and worsen tensions among the country's ethnic, religious and cultural groups.

word Faux, CNN MSRNC or any of the other Bush Whores tell me, so anyone know?

I do know that the result is rigged no matter who shows up or doesn't show up, but it would at least shed a little light on whether they even WANT the process.

3. Yep, looks like the Sunnis

screwed the pooch. Oh well, comeupance time for them I guess. They ruled the roost since the 1920's despite the fact that they are only 20% of the population. Guess they need to get over it.

The Kurds are also only 20% of the population, yet they turned out in big numbers. The Sunnis seem to think that they can have it both ways - terror and participation in civil society. Doesn't work that way.
