| Here's what REALLY irks me about the Runaway Bride thing |
|
How long will it be before Miss Runaway Bride signs a multi-million dollar contract for the rights to her book about this escapade? Will there be movie rights for her, too?
For all we know, her IDIOTIC boyfriend is in cahoots with her on this. After being embarrassed on a national level, why else would the fucker STILL want to marry this goofy imbecile if he wasn't in cahoots with her?? Maybe he's not quite as stupid as he acts and looks?
What a farce, and all this OBSCENE amount of coverage is playing right into their hands.

which seems to be well underway for Mary K.

and probably an advice column for brides to be. You watch and see, she'll make a fortune off of this.

| 5. that was my original thought |

That this was totally planned. However, I don't care to see her go to jail. But, she should be charged with some type of crime, be forced to pay restitution and fines, do community service, and sign away her rights to profit from her crime--like any other criminal.

| 6. If you're supposition is correct, then maybe they were just workin' ... |

...the system.
I doubt they were that smart, but if the so-called "News" media is stupid enough to make them into Warhol's "15 minute" famers, what the heck, take advantage.
It's a sad fact about most of the people in the US today; that they would prefer to read tabloids, instant books, and watch instant made-for-TV movies about something like this than consume anything substantive.
Isn't this what happened in ancient Rome? Give them the circus. Give them the games. That way they won't have their minds on the barbarians at the gate.
And we know what happened to ancient Rome in the end.

| 7. Some schmuck at Lifetime Network is probably already writing a script... |
|
For a really bad made-for-TV movie. They'll cast Shannon Dougherty as the bride, Rick Schroder as the groom, and Susan Lucci and Barry Bostwick as the bride's parents.
Ugh.

Days? A week?
I have no doubt the offers are already pouring in.
Maybe Oprah will collar him first. Who knows?

Ths thread examines this from a different angle. I share the OP's outrage, but here's a more serious fallout from this sort of crap. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x3587482
