This group has published a handy directory of anti-woman physicians throughout the US. This group also pushes the lie that abortion can cause breast cancer.

BTW, don't think that just because you are in a red state that your OB/GYN is pro-choice. I found many even in the NYC metro area who don't believe in choice.

Do I believe that a OB-GYN can dislike abortion? Of course. However, patients of these doctors have put their names with an organization that spreads lies about abortion and its effects. In that context, will your anti-choice doctor tell you the truth about your CHOICE if asked?

There are a lot of women throughout the country on that list also.

These people would happily tell a woman to continue their pregnancy even if it threatened their life.

Question: There's another listed as being at Travis AFB. Does it seem weird to anybody else that a doctor in govt employ would be listed in a directory for a controversial organization like that?

Be sure to do your homework on this issue: There are a couple pro-life OBGYNs in my town who aren't on this list. A couple years ago I was looking for a new doctor, since mine was in MD near my old job. I did a few Google searches of practices and doctors' names, to see if they'd published, been reported to the county consumers' office, etc. Turns out that one of the docs I had thought about contacting, because they were on my insurance list, had received an award from the White Rose Society or another domestic-terrorist-loving pro-life organization for their dedication to saving fetuses. :eyes:

Meanwhile, I found another doctor's office that I was considering on the Operation Rescue site with a big bullseye over it.

8. I wonder what effect the directory really will have though

I was sitting with a group of women at my high school reunion who had gone to Catholic schools before high school. They were talking about this wonderful OB/GYN practice in our hometown which had 3 Catholic doctors who did not perform abortions.

Now, it turns out that not only did these doctors NOT terminate pregnancies; they also would not prescribe birth control of any kind. They would educate women on the "rhythm" method only. All of these Catholic women went to another doctor for birth control, and to this Catholic practice for obstetrics. I imagine that this involved lying to the doctor so that he would not know that they did not follow the Catholic teachings following birth control.

I just don't think most women will go to doctors who pick and choose what services they will deliver, and I don't think insurance companies will either. They're not going to want to pay for someone to have two appointments where one should suffice.

doctors did not prescribe birth control pills because then it would be one less prescription they would have to pay for (not that many pay for birth control pills unless it is for a medical condition).

I work for an insurance company so I know of where I speak. It really is all about the bottom line.

17. Yes, it is and it is for this reason that if companies wish

to include maternity coverage they must purchase riders (unless maternity coverage is mandated by the state). Not all plans, particularly individual plans, cover maternity care.

Birth control pills are not viewed as medically necessary but rather as a lifestyle choice. I wish someone would explain to me, then, why Viagra is covered but not birth control pills. Is an erection medically necessary?

But women who use contraception are just "having their fun" i.e. having sex for reasons other than procreation, reasons which are intrinsically selfish.

Many of the "pro life" physicians listed in the St Louis area are affiliated in some way with one or more of the Catholic hospitals.

But what we do have is alot of anti-choice picketers in front of OB/GYN offices. There was a big controversy with a doctor a few years ago--they were picketing in front of his own house and he couldn't do anything about it.
