How will we feel when other countries can cure Alzheimer's and we can't?
|
Is every family with an afflicted loved one going to accept that? Will Dobson instruct his minion Bush to prohibit travel to other countries where you could receive treatments derived from stem cell research?

I agree with Shrub that we shouldn't sponsor cloning. But there are ways to phrase laws that would forbid that in stem cell research.
To enable scientists to use donated sells to fertilisation clinics that will never be used, and ultimately be destroyed is just foolish.

3. When it comes to that we will finally accept the technology.

It is just a matter of having it in 15 years or in 5. Federal funding would speed up the process exponentially.
All they have to wrap their twisted morals around are all the people that are going to die horrible deaths during the time we waste.

4. The rich will find a way

we already have billions poured into medical research that the poor will never be able to use. I bet the wealthy are sure they will be able to obtain what they need. The research will be conducted in a foreign company and there will be clandestine clinics taking care of the cash crowd. In the meantime they will hold stocks in those companies as I am sure Bush does.

All the pigs who hand issues like this to our American Taliban in exchange for power will be able to afford a thousand trips abroad and a thousand Alzheimer's treatments if they want them.

6. I fully support stem cell research...

... and so do a lot of us on the "right". Not only that, I support federal funding for it, which I don't for a lot of things.
To be quite honest, we true conservatives are having a problem we are dealing with right now with the hard core religious zealots' obnoxious role in politics.
FYI, though, there are a lot of us who realize that and are much more moderate, so I wouldn't paint the whole right side of the spectrum with that "fire-n-brimstone" brush.
A lot of people agree with me on that. My advice to those who don't is: Hey look, if it bothers you that much, then when (heaven forbid) you get in an accident and sever your spianl cord, just refuse any treatment that has to do with stem cells. That way you won't have that guilt hanging over your head. :eyes:
"Sorry about your Parkinson's, dude. But I have some personal religious hangups so I am not going to allow you to have the treatment that may cure your condition."
:hurts:
