I think Dodd and Biden have both indicated that they won't filibuster it - and they seem to be leading the charge against Bolton.
We're so screwed. War with Iran, here we come.

| 3. So What Good Is The Filibuster If It's Not Used? |
|
What good is the filibuster if Democrats won't use it to block any of Bush's nominations, judicial or otherwise?
It's a weapon Republicans won't hestitate to use if they oppose any bills or appointments by a Democratic president should the Democratic Party win the 2008 presidential election.

But if they don't confirm Bolton, they'll find another puppet who will build a faux "case" against Iran.
The real nomination that should have been filibustered was Rice. She's going to be pulling all of the strings anyway, and she has no problem blatantly lying to the American people while she does it. Once Rice was confirmed, the game was over - permanent occupation of Iraq and further wars in the region.

I think they are saving it for the Supreme court, not to mention that Voinovich might have given them a few more votes.

I bet they won't use it for the Supreme Court no matter who Bush nominates. I didn't realize that the filibuster is a "one time use" only procedure and I really now doubt that it would even be used a single time by Democrats to stop a Bush appointment to the Supreme Court.

they absolutely should. This should not be about politics. Bolton is a threat to world peace and stability and a threat to national security.

They signed an agreement to only use it during extreme circumstances.
With most of the republicans painting this guy as in line for the papacy should this gig fail to work out, how can Democrats do filibuster and not been seen as going back on their word.
We had a line drawn in the sand and we backed away. . .too bad for America.

let him reveal himself , and by implication, this entire Administration, for what it REALLY is: A bunch of economy-wrecking, war-mongering BUFFOONS!!! Maybe, just maybe, the threat of another unnecesssary War will wake their stupid asses up. Save the filibustering for the Judges, (SCOTUS and others).

Good point!
Perhaps they are waiting for Bush to nominate someone to the right of David Duke? Well, that might not be icky enough to fight.

| 14. No. They'd approve David Duke to mollify "the south". |
|
It's a good thing old Strom has gone to meet his much deserved and too long delayed reward, or they'd give him a pass as head of the Civil Rights Commission.
