1. Actually, that bottled water question is an important one.

It brings up two very important issues that contradict each other somewhat: Is bottled water an acceptable alternative to polluted municipal water supplies, or is it an insidious means of lulling the public into thinking that corporate control of the water supply--with the prices to go along with it--is okay?

If you're not familiar with the water wars, which we're in the early stages of, you should read up on it (Mother Jones ran an excellent piece on it about a year ago).

Frankly, I'm a little surprised that thread hasn't generated more debate by now.
