Maybe the settlement is too hard to defend in the next war?

1. Maybe Gaza's too difficult to defend in the CURRENT war
Maybe there's no conspiracy there at all. Maybe the Israelis just realized how much it was costing them in terms of lives, time, energy, world opinion, and money to keep a few hundred settlers there.

Maybe also we should give the Israelis some credit for removing settlers from Gaza. It's a big first step towards a permanent compromise.
