During the campaign, I was constantly surrpounded by like-minded people. We would all share in our frustrations every weekend on the bus from Los Angeles to Las Vegas, working on Clark County (which went Blue!) Many of us have stayed close, having house parties, dinners, going to protests, meetings and teach-ins together. We are all involed with other groups and invite one another to our events.
I love coming to DU. Of the 75,000+ registered users, even if 5,000 or so are freeper or freeper sympathizers and maybe 20,000+ sign up but never return or rarely post, that still leaves approximately 50,000 that share in my feelings here at DU. Every time I'm here, I see a new poster with over 1,000 posts.
I live in a very bue city, in a very blue county and a blue state. I know when I walk around town, the overwhelming majority of people agree with me. I see more liberal stickers on cars and still in the windows of resident's... with only the occassional "enemy" sticker. I know when we go to certain theaters that play liberal documentaries, most people in there agree with me. I know when I go to trader Joe's and see all the liberal stickers on the cars, most people in there agree with me. And in my very blue profession, I can't think of one co-worker who disagrees with me.
I love to read through our books... Clinton's bio, America; The Book, etc. and remember that there are so many other people right now who share in my struggle.
I know who our liberal entertainers are, and when I watch their films or tv shows, it's nice to look at someone and think... "they, too, are struggling with what is happening to this country."
Does anyone else ever feel alone? Even if you know 80% of the globe polled by Gallup share in our utter astonishment of this insanity, it is so easy to feel completly overwhelmed by their hatred.
