| Feingold to be on "Meet the Press" on Sunday re: timeframe in Iraq |
|
Just got a e-mail by Senator Feigold regarding his proposal for a deadline to pull out of Iraq (12/31/06) and stating he will be on "Meet the Press" this Sunday to discuss it and other issues. He no doubt will be asked about Cindy too.
I'm very proud he is my Senator. I think he is warming up to running for president in '08 too.

MEET THE PRESS WITH TIM RUSSERT WEEKEND LISTINGS 8/21/05
SEN. RUSS FEINGOLD (D - WI) Foreign Relations Committee
SEN. TRENT LOTT (R - MS) Author, "Herding Cats: A Life in Politics" Intelligence Committee
LARRY DIAMOND Author, "Squandered Victory: The American Occupation and the Bungled Effort to Bring Democracy to Iraq" Fmr. Senior Adviser on Governance, Coalition Provisional Authority in Iraq
DAN SENOR Fmr. Chief Spokesperson, Coalition Provisional Authority in Iraq
With the casualty count mounting in Iraq and protesters continuing to shadow President Bush, the debate over America's involvement in Iraq has dominated the news. Should the U.S. set a deadline for withdrawing American troops? Yes, says Sen. Russ Feingold (D-WI), who, in an exclusive interview on this Sunday's "Meet the Press," will discuss his decision to be the first U.S. Senator to offer a specific date -- December 31, 2006 -- as the target for the complete withdrawal of American troops from Iraq.
Then, former Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott (R-MS) will talk about his view that the U.S. should continue its involvement in Iraq and avoid setting a deadline for withdrawal. Lott will also talk about his candid new book, "Herding Cats: A Life in Politics" which details his rise to power and his eventual resignation as Majority Leader after his controversial remarks about Strom Thurmond and the political power play that followed. He has some harsh words for some of his colleagues and former friends that he says betrayed him during those tough December weeks in 2002.
And what is the status of the war in Iraq? Where do we go from here? And how did we reach this point? We'll hear the differing analysis and opinions of two former advisers of the administration's team in Iraq: Larry Diamond, former senior adviser on governance to the Coalition Provisional Authority in Iraq and author of "Squandered Victory: The American Occupation and the Bungled Effort to Bring Democracy to Iraq" and Dan Senor, the former Chief Spokesperson for the Coalition Provisional Authority in Iraq.
Lott, Feingold, Diamond & Senor ... only on "Meet the Press." Tim Russert is the moderator of "Meet the Press." David Gregory will be guest moderator this Sunday. Betsy Fischer is the executive producer. Michelle Jaconi and Christine Egy are producers.
