| The CIA, Rush, and Arnold |
|
I don't really believe what I'm about to write, but people who were tinfoil hats and think the CIA is all-powerful should think about the following.
1) Let's assume there is an all-out war going on right now between the CIA and the White House. (I agree with this actually).
2) Let's assume that certain people in the CIA (Tenent, etc.) have decided that, due to the Plame Affair as well as the general incompetence of the BushCo goons in running the country, that Bush MUST be defeated in 2004. The exact CIA motive will vary depending on how you see them....some would interpret this as a CIA powergrab/coup, while others may think that the CIA is acting out of patriotic motives and sees BushCo as a threat to the nation. (This is possible).
3) Using well-placed leaks, you show the public and congress how the administration has been trying to bury the Plame Affair. (this has happened.)
4) Anticipating the White House response, you need to figure out a way to discredit those who will be the administration's strongest defender in the public eye. And who is the administration's most vocal and effective defender? Rush Limbaugh. So you give someone a push to publish information about Limbaugh that you've been sitting on for awhile.
5) Knowing that the coming California recall is actually part of a BushCo power play to set up the state for the GOP in '04, you give someone a push to publish damaging information about Arnold, thus reducing the chance that he will win next week. Even if he does win, the public disclosure of this information will reduce his ability to govern.
I don't really believe 4 and 5....I don't think the CIA is allpowerful. But it would make a good novel, and who knows, there MIGHT be something to it.
The next few weeks and months will be VERY interesting indeed.
But I will tell you one thing. I don't wear a tinfoil hat, and I don't think there is a secret CIA cabal controlling the world. But I DO think that persons in the CIA have decided that BushCo is dangerous and has to go, and will do everything they possibly can to push the Plame Affair as much as possible.

I too don't necessarily completely believe it's absolutely true, however, it's certainly plausible. Rush I think is just TOO convenient. He's effectively neutralized just when he's needed most to rally the troops. The Arnold story I would be more inclined to think is not part of the same "plot" as it were, but rather I think it comes from the Davis camp... Actually, I missed your thread, but I see that we are thinking along the same lines.
There is stuff going on that we will never know about, that's for sure. I just hope the "good" guys win.

The CIA has done nothing but repeat a three month old routine request. Why do you think this shows an attack on WH? The only new thing I see this week is that a deepthroat has imerged in the WH. They have known dangerous administrations before. They serve whoever is in power. bUsh sr. has run the covert operations in Government (with some others) ever since they assisted in removing an American President. If senior (and his partners) wanted jr out , they would remove him at a time and place of their choosing. They would not rely on media or legalities. Our American CIA is very good at what they do. What they do has nothing to do with emotion or retrobution.

I'm further on my path to absolutely DESPISING that term. How can anyone claim "tin foil" in these bizarro times we live in. If it hasn't become apparent by now that EVERYTHING is relative and possible when it comes to theories relating to this White House I don't know when it ever could - and I certainly wouldn't want to be around to experience it.
I find your thoughts here quite plausible and definitely interesting and it would not surprise me one bit that all five points are "on it". However, a thought about the CIA - WHAT IF there are two factions working in this goverment - one we call the evil bastards and the other perhaps the White Knights. It seems to me that there is a power struggle here between good/evil - and it looks as if the good guys are pretty damn smart and prepared.
Great post IMO.

BushSR CIA factions are up against other CIA factions that are NOT aligned with PNAC goals.
Its somewhat like the good CIA v bad CIA, but a whole lot more twists with varying alliances.
The PNAC is the darkside.
