| The beating that Bill Clinton takes on this forum is absolutely PATHETIC |
|
IMHO.
I'm not talkiing about people giving some fair criticism here and there. It's all the other ones, the many many extreme ones, who are moe vicious than many of the most vocal anti-Clinton repukes when it comes to discussing Bill Clinton.
Many of the adjectives & nouns often used to describe him here are downright nasty and WRONG.
Don't you recall what a HERO he was when he rescued us from suffering through another term with the FIRST fucking Bush?
Don't you recall how he erased Reagan's OBSCENE national deficit?
Don't you recall how he was one of the few who FOLLOWED UP ON HIS PROMISES to make our country better?
Don't you recall how compassionate he was for his fellow citizens, rich or poor?
Don't you recall how TIMES WERE GOOD under him?
What is wrong with your memories???

better than what we have now, I can't stand to read that stuff. My little girl is growing up through the majority of her childhood that she'll be able to remember with this Bush shit going on -- I would give anything for her to have been able to grow up during Clinton times or with another president like him.

The venom by some toward the Big Dawg on this board frustrates me. Was I for everything he did? No. Did he disappoint me on occasions? You bet. But let me tell ya, we haven't had a great prez like that since FDR.
God, I miss him!

I don't "hate" him as much as some here, but I no longer am willing to take a bullet for him.
Now we know what a "Liberal ReTHUGlican" would look like...
And I am TOTALLY sick-up and fed with the DLC, so guess where that leaves me on the question of a Bayh-Clinton or Clinton-Bayh ticket....

He is not that, he never was, and he never will be. Only in the minds of people who whine constantly that he's not far enough to the left will he be wrongfully considered to be any form of a Republican.
What Bill Clinton is/was is one of the best all-around Democrats EVER. I wish to fuck we had just ONE more like him in Congress right now.

So I don't really know what "fair" criticism is. Is that criticism that doesn't really criticize and ends with a "thank you, Bill"? Because I'm not likely to thank Bill for anything anytime soon.
C'mon- he did alot better than Junior, but that's not saying much.

The number of people living under the poverty line went down under Clinton for the first time since the first term of Nixon. The cost of living went up slower then the increase in real wages for the first time since Johnson. The minimum wage was raised 3 times in 8 years. Real inflation was lower than at any time since the 1920's. Homelessness hit a lowpoint in the 20th century under Clinton. (Admittedly some of those data are estimates because prior to 1950, the gov't didn't keep those stats except during the depression.)
You do realize that higher minimum wages and low inflation help the poor more than they help the middle class and rich, don't you? Well, you should realize it. You're smart enough to get it.
You can puke, but that's on you, not on me. I'm not apologizing for him, so don't call me an apologist. But, you should get your facts right. Dislike him if you will for the right reasons, not those you just think are facts. Because your post that the poorest of the poor did not have 8 years of peace & prosperity is just wrong. They were still the poorest of the poor, but there were fewer of them, and they were a little less poor. That's a pretty good track record from my perspective. Don't get trapped into expecting perfection. You'll be disappointed every single time. The Professor

Hillary is hated by the right with a passion that is hard to comprehend. If nominated she would mobilize the right like nothing else. If elected she would case such divisiveness that she would not be able to govern. Hillary is a smart lady and she knows she has to defuse some of the hatred that is directed at her. Bill is doing what he can to help. I'm not saying I agree with her, or I support her, or I think she would be our best candidate. I am, however, smart enough, and I think most people on this board are smart enough to understand what she is doing, and why she is doing it.

Clinton gave the Environmental movement just a little more than lip service. His trade policies probably did more harm to the environment than his other policies helped. The goodies came in his last 6 months and the manner in which they were done ensured their reversal by the petty Earth hating scum that took over. I worked for him in 1992, couldn't get up the jizz to do so in 1996 because of his sorry environmental effort.

Orleans. It didn't make any dam difference who you were, rich or poor, he did the right thing. They even called him "The First Black President". He had a program called "Instant Impact" or something to that effect. It was just for emergencies like this and everything was in place and ready to go.
It was one of the first of many Clinton programs that Bush dismantled right after taking office.
However, Clinton is big enough to put the things Bush said and did in the back of his mind. As always for President Clinton, the people come first no matter if you are black, white, any color and even freepers probably, he is the true compassionate President.

I'm sure you are going to be hearing a lot of criticism from the left as well. It was patently obvious that * had gone to poppy to ask him how to spin this. Poppy no doubt phoned his newly minted buddy Bill and the three of them got their pointed heads together to figure out how to save *'s ass.
Bill no doubt told him that he was a naughty boy not getting relief in there when there was time, but that he could save his image by getting aid into the devasted areas now. Then they all three stood in the Rose Garden for a photo op. :puke:
