Limbaugh mocking DU'er a bit ago...

Limbaugh, giggling and mumbling like he was just peaking on his hydrocodones, was ridiculing a post he saw on DU this morning. (Before we get the customary, "Why are you listening to that butt-boil anyway" response) I caught a couple of minutes on my way to get my 6 gallons for $20 gas trip this morning.

He said someone posted about an elderly black woman who looked like she need help but when the DU'er noticed she had a "W" sticker on her car, he just passed her up and said, "Let her hero come and save her" or something to that effect. Rush must read the "Democrat Underground" on a daily basis. And if he logs on, he knows it is the "DemocraticUnderground" but he likes his giggles with his drugs, I suppose?

I believe the person was in an SUV, and ALSO, the poster thought she probably had a cell phone. She was also not "at the side of the road" - she had already made it to an off ramp.

Given the fact that all people who voted for W effectively have left most of us to languish on the side of the road, I think it's quite disingenuous to seize on this.

stranded motorist was a white woman with her child and their SUV. The original poster stated she was disgusted by her own behavior and vowed never to do it again.

Apparantly, freepers picked up on the thread and they had their own thread going on about what hypocrites we were, yada yada. Quite comical really.

What we have here is the internet version of the telephone game with the original story being changed via personal perceptions as it goes on down the line.

I'm convinced that the stories from the Superdome have gone through the same process therefore until I hear some kind of eyewitness accounts, then I have a hard time believing the extreme brutality of it all. Yes, there were probably incidents but hyped up over time for reasons I can't be sure of.

the race or even that he took it out of context that has me furious. I just finished reading the thread, and it was a public confession that the poster had, from her point of view, morally screwed up, felt badly about it and was using the post to, in a sense, sort through her feelings and make amends. Well, that poster is a damn site ahead of Bush who is still blaming others for his monumental screw up. What is despicable about Limbaugh's misuse of the thread is that he turns the poster's heartfelt apology and examination of conscience into its opposite.
One of the good things I have seen in the short time I have been at DU is that, inspite of the strongly felt opinions (and the occasional flaming), this is a place where often people call themselves on their own shit or are able to re-think their ideas.
