In essence their story is similar to many others. What makes it a little different is that they had a Canadian perspective about it.
They were absolutely disgusted at the behaviors of the soldiers guarding them: "We never thought that people could be treated with so much despise. We were treated like animals."
At the end of the interview the journalist was almost apologizing to ask THE question:
"What was the percentage of white people in the guards?"
" 90% "
"And what was the percentage in the people stuck in the Superdome?"
" 99% "
So even here it is a little taboo to expose racism.
