I now believe that the number of US SOLDIERS killed in Iraq is correct. I also am inclined to believe we are employing many hired guns, mercenaries if you will. I now realize I haven't seen any numbers for the deaths of these mercenaries, surely they're being killed also. Are they counted along with the GI's? To the Iraq people they would be one and the same, "Americans." Could this be why the Iraqi believe they can win and are trying so hard to run us out? They're possibly seeing many more killed than what we are told. I wonder.

sometimes the merc companies post some sort of condolence message on their websites. Maybe it's only when there is a publically known event, so it would probably take a bit of work to come up with the figures about how many of their people are making one-way trips.

| 4. Does the 'official' count include those who die from injuries/complication |
|
some time after the initial 'wounded' classification? Does it includ the suicides of those who came home and took their own lives? How about ALL of the ones killed in Hummer accidents?
Doubt that merc KIA would be counted. The guys in power got there by fudging the counts in other areas, why would they suddenly become interested in accuracy?

will be found to be a very narrow field. I also think that these lying SOB's that got us here should be strung up.

This has been discussed extensively here many, many times. The "offcial" body count of US soldiers killed in Iraq includes those who die later from wounds in Germany and the US, and also accidents. ("combat deaths" is a separate count which does not include accidents, but the number most commonly used is the total number of deaths, accident and all - 1840 or something by now).
Mercs are not counted.
The number of deaths is comparatively rather low, for a coflict like this, due to the advances made in battlefield medicine. The hidden casualties of the Iraq war are all the thousands who survive, but who are disabled for life. How many are they? 10,000? 15,000? 20,000? No one knows, as thay are not counted and their wounds not announced.
