| 2. well the Dem message was that the recall was wrong, but |
|
that meant to most people that a vote against the recall was a vote for Gray Davis.
Gray Davis is a dweeb. The only reason he got elected in the first place is because the Republicans were SO VERY STUPID in the last election and nominated Bill Simon. Who's an even bigger loser than Gray Davis.
The Dem's "mistake" was in not putting out a charismatic candidate in case the recall passed.

No on the recall was not a compelling message to mobilize the base.
I think the message of the article above would have mobilized the base.

| 5. Why do so many here keep equating the media |
|
with the Dem message? Get a clue. The media can report on anything they want. They will always go for the sex over the substance. Now unless you are a Repuke disruptor, which I doubt, then don't continue to wrongly say that the Dem strategy was the groping thing. It was not. They were asked about it over and over, and answered the questions. It was disturbing, and that's what they said.
So if you insist upon saying the Dem strategy was Gropegate, then you are dead wrong. So save it. They did not capitalize on some areas that they should have, you are correct. But groping was not the strategy.

The media reported about Ahnold's gropings. It was the media's strategy to get ratings. It was NOT the Dem strategy.

| 7. So why don't the Dems try to do something about the media? |
|
I have been screaming this for years now - at meetings with high profile Dem strategists - but they just give me the deer-in-the-headlights look and repeat the same tired old crap out.
I'll repeat it again -
Unless we see a change in the media, the Democratic party can hang it up for 2004.

| 9. It BECAME the Democratic message |
|
Even though it was released by the Los Angeles Times.
ThatÕs why I said the article above, SHOULD have been the Democratic message.
The media may have made the groping charges the Democratic message but donÕt kid yourself, the Democratic party leaders did nothing to back away from the groping story either.
ItÕs their fault they LET the media frame the Democratic message.
