I just book marked this and and am sending the link (if you don't mind) to my list. This is what I'm talking about! I think if a few socially aware investment types were consulted, a plan agreed upon and launched, the monied elite would sit up and take notice. The only power that we have is economic. Our words fall on deaf ears, our movements eyed with suspiscion.
I am not a wealthy women by any measure, I am a single mom with no income or child support. But I know the impact my (half)dollar has. Collectively we can motivate and enact change with a well executed plan. This link helps get the word out.

A mass boycott forced Barclay's Bank to get out of South Africa, for example.

Some activists are actively discussing this as a tactic. There are sub issues such as unintended consequences, limited availability of alternative suppliers and so on. Nevertheless, it makes perfect sense not to contuinue giving the lifeblood of capital to organisations whose interests are inconsistent with what real democrats believe in.

People have enormous economic power which could eventually bring about desirable changes if they wield that power properly. As I said above, Barclays Bank got booted out of South Africa by a mass boycott. That was 19 years ago. It was only in May of this year that they started going back into the country.
