| Did anyone catch George Clooney on Charlie Rose last night?? |
|
What a great interview. Of course Clooney was there to promote "Good Night and Good Luck", but he also talked about how this movie reflects similar things going on in TV journalism today. He revealed other tid-bits too like how Les Manooves asked him to do the movie "Network" live on CBS, and talked how emotional Dan Rather was after seeing the "Good Night and Good Luck"... he even got a few jabs in at the right wing pundits. He knew they'd be gunning for him due to the fact that some prop up Joe McCarthy as a Hero, but he admitted he was surprised that Ann Coulter was questioning his manhood in an article she wrote... he continued by saying, "I'd never question her about her manhood - there is no question about it!" It was hysterical! Charlie Rose also said that Bill O'Reilly asked Charlie Rose to use his forum to debate Clooney - apparently Bill is still accusing Clooney of Fraud over the 9/11 telethon. Clooney said he'd debate him anywhere except for on BO's show... Clooney doesn't feel Bill would offer a fair forum if Bill were in control of the microphone.
It was a great interview!! I don't know if they'll replay it, but if they do try to catch it!

| 1. O'Lielly doesn't deserve the respect |

Clooney should ignore the fool - we all should. O'Lielly is just a bully with nothing of any substance to back it up.

gave up on Charlie Rose. That guy is stuck on getting corporate hacks on every night to talk about how great their corporation is; an infomercial.

Great analysis! Sounds like charlie rose didn't try to swarm Clooney with rw talking points.
That is Perfect what Clooney had to say about coulter "questioning his manhood"..what a dipstick she is..joe mccarthy is her hero..how dare George Clooney show joe mccarthy up for the Scourge on America that he was, playing himself, yet!

| 5. Clooney has been on Charlie Rose a couple of times... |
|
and Clooney knows how to deflect the Reich wing talking points. He has never apologized for the stance he's taken on subjects such as the War, and on Poverty... and he doesn't back down. I think Charlie Rose respects him and it was a pretty relaxed interview. It was more of a "Edward R. Murrow love-in". :-)

| 6. Oh I forgot to mention what he said about the "Daily Show" |
|
Edited on Sat Oct-15-05 02:23 PM by Blue Belle
Charlie Rose was trying to disqualify it, but Clooney said that because of the satire format, they actually can do a better job of reporting than regular news. Clooney also said that in the run-up to the war, as well as with the elections, TDS gave out some of the best information.
Just wanted to add that... for all the Daily Show fans! :)

Clooney that is! I saw George on a repeat of The Daily Show this week and it was amazing with the clip from "Good Night, and Good Luck"! I know he loves the Daily Show and what a great chance to stick up for it and say how good it really is.
I bet it irks ol' charlie that Jon can lay it exactly out just how crooked the bushites are.

It was a great interview. I can't wait to see the film. I have always found the McCarthy Era terribly important in our nations history. Seems like same cast of characters have been reincarnated today. We never seem to learn from our mistakes. If only we had a Edward R Murrow today.
Also that A. Coulter comment was hysterical.

There were a couple of instances where I was wondering if he was ever going to let Clooney get a word in edge wise. :eyes:
