| Faux Casts Shrub as LINCOLN. HITCHENS Sez He's Not a Wingnut |
|
Edited on Thu Nov-24-05 08:04 PM by UTUSN
So for the holiday the FauxPropaganda Network abandoned *news*----oh, uh, nevermind-----and featured Doris Kearns GOODWIN and Histofer CHICKENS.
The GOODWIN segment was about her latest book on LINCOLN with its special angle, "Team of Rivals," how he absorbed these supposedly higher powered dudes, who had competed against him or aspired to.
Getting some vibes yet?
So the Jeff BIRBAUM wingnut would feed ostensibly neutral reportorial questions to Doris along the lines of, "So LINCOLN was not regarded as the great president and man we think of today. His contemporaries thought of him as this backwoods hick. Yet he appointed these high powered rivals to his cabinet and won them over..."
Who, oh, who could this FauxBot be trying to evoke? Anybody?
As for HITCHENS, most of his rumbling was inaudible due to the outdoors noise pollution and his own register. Faux's Major GARRETT set him up as being adored and reviled at different times by both the Left and the Wingnuts. HITCHENS slapped Lefties only, saying that when those people call him a traitor after having adored him before it makes him wonder whether they EVER liked him at all.
And the Beltway Bozos on the panel: BARNES said he was thankful for his family and how pro-American the Brits are because they love his daughter who moved there. KONDRACKE said he is thankful for his new wife, didn't mention his late wife but said the actress who played her should have gotten an Emmy. And the obligatory swipe at us was that he is NOT thankful for the poisoned political atmosphere.
I submit that the poison started 15 yrs ago when LIMBOsevic made scorched-earth the bottomline.

Oh, g*d. Putting Lincoln and B*** anywhere in the same sentence is just...not...done.
Hitchens must have been even more lit up than usual.

| 5. Well I guess the Churchill and the FDR comparisons aren't working |
|
so they dust off the Lincoln thing. This however might backfire since many of his hard core supporters rank Lincoln right up there with the devil himself.
One other thing during the war some did think Lincoln was a hick but they were wrong. These days people think * is a lying jakcoff asshole who can't find his ass with both hands, a compass, map and team of Secret Service agents and can't even god damn remember how the hell he entered a room. In addtionl they think he is a petty shallow narcissistic twit who has surrounded himself with evil greedy men and sad lonely office wives who spend their time kissing *'s ass. And they are right.
