| 1. They're working to try to actually prove it happened in the first place. |
|
Until you can do that, you're not going to get anything in the way of voter reform through a Republican congress that committed the fraud in the first place.

| 3. How about verification |
|
I demand verification and ability to recount votes. That should be able to be done fraud or not. It isn't just about whether fraud happened but whether it might happen. I want to know my vote is counted and can be recounted if necessary.. This issue does not seem to be on the Democrats agenda at all.

| 6. It's on the agenda and has been talked about more than a few times. |
|
Unfortunately, you do understand that the Republicans who committed the voter fraud control Congress, and any changes would have to go through them, right? Meaning, it ain't gonna happen unless we have home-run, irrefutable evidence that this is a problem, which, despite all the clamoring on DU, does not currently exist.

Kerry, Dean, Conyers, Boxer, and plenty of others have said spoken on the subject. If you haven't seen it, you aren't paying attention.

are two very different actions. I challenge your assertion that the Dems are actively pursuing this extremely important step to preserving our Democracy. Just within the last two weeks, Mark Crispin Miller reported that Kerry admitted to knowing the election was stolen, and then backtracked and said he did not say this when it became public knowledge. This is the ongoing actions of a man who should be vociferous in his attacks against fraud. Dean has mentioned it some time back and then dropped it. Diebold, ES&S and other computerized DREs continue to gain more states certification for implementation: North Carolina being the newest with California and New York quickly following. Yes Conyers and Boxer are actively pursuing this but that hardly quantifies as a behind the scenes action of the party as a whole. I appreciate your support, enthusiasm and sunny optimism about our Democratic party, but your outlook is hardly filled with factual basis. I have and will continue to be aware of this most horrendous crime against Democracy and will continue to act against it, as I assume you will do as well. But to couch your opinions as facts are disastrous to this cause which needs all to rise and shout loudly and demand real action. If I have indeed missed something so important as the rise of our party to focus and destroy fraud in our election and voting apparatus, then I urge you to teach me the steps I have missed. Believe me, I would feel better and safer and be able to sleep at night knowing this important information and I would build upon it. I am sure others who read this thread would equally be happy to have this information as well. But as of my current state of knowledge, I am afraid you are overstating the real events and not being helpful by suppling real examples to support you assertions.

|
But they are working on it. I don't have much faith that they're going to come up with anything definitive enough though.

and at least one from Hillary Clinton and not one of the questionnaires had any mention of election reform or campaign reform. Not an issue for DNC.

not all of our policy is formed by questionnaires. Especially given the nature of this issue. We have to be conscious of the "sore loser" label that will quickly get applied. We can't hammer on it unless we have absolutely irrefutable evidence that voter fraud happened, especially since we have no power to unilaterally make the changes necessary in the first place. There is no point at all in taking such a huge risk, one that would endanger our ENTIRE agenda, when the chances of success really aren't all that high at present.
I know pragmatism is frowned upon in many DU circles, but thankfully, our leaders know better.

It matters not whether fraud happened. What matters is can it happen. The appearance of questionable elections is an important issue. It is as important to have trustworthy elections as it is Social Security. Without the one you ain't gunna have the other...A bank does not need to be robbed to make security measures.

Your point makes no fucking difference if no change can actually occur. Is that point lost on you completely? Or are you happy with just pounding sand for the sake of saying that you can?

and I have to trust that means he's working on it.
I'm not sure the issue can be dealt with aggressively in a public way without media willing to cover the efforts.

I also read in his last missive that Dean is going to make secure voting machines an issue for the party.
The most concrete info I know is that Kerry's closest adviser, a top information security expert, believes the issue - Jon Winer - and that HAS to be the beginning of something big, imo.

It would appear that the leaders of the party do not perceive this to be a problem of the same magnitude as same DUers do.
