| If you're upset about your local corp. megastore saying "Happy Holidays" |

...thhen maybe you should STFU and SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL MOM & POP BUSINESSES AND STOP GOING TO GODDAMN WALMARTTARGETOLDNAVYGAPKMARTTOYSRUSBEDBATH&BEYONDETCETCETC!!!!!!!
You people created this world of corporate uniformity when you decided in unison to forsake the businesses owned by your FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS in favor of some big box owned by a faraway corporation, just to save a few pennies on junk you don't need anyway.
Suck on it.

| 4. She's referring to so-called Christians" who don't like "Happy Holidays" |
|
They want stores only to say "Merry Christmas" or else they'll boycott.

I hope you didn't own a business that went under because of one of the unmentionable mega-stores. That really is a shame, but until people start voting IN THEIR OWN BEST INTERESTS and elect a government that will SUPPORT, not try to DESTROY, labor union organizing, and is not afraid to enact some anti-monopoly legislation, we're stuck with the aforementioned purveyors of junk we don't need anyway. But as to your other point, I can't understand the fuss. No store is OBLIGATED to say happy or merry anything. What a silly tempest in a teapot over nothing. Just another example of something that should be wonderful turning into a season of greed, glut, and controversy. (Can I get a "Bah, humbug!"?)

| 6. No, but I spent my summers in a little town... |
|
...when I was a kid, the downtown was full of cute little stores (not pricey chichi ones like you see in Sedona, etc.) where you knew the owners and they knew you and your family, and by the time I turned 20, they were almost all gone, replaced by a wal-mart (which eventually closed, leaving the town with no tax base) Now all those stores are gone, downtown is boarded up, and you have to drive 5 miles to the next town to use THEIR wal-mart.
And I know that this is a story that has been repeated in thousands of small towns all over the US....

| 5. Happy Consumption Season! |
|
That's what I'm responding with. Because whether or not I celebrate christmas or any other holiday..I've finally learned that it DOES NOT HAPPEN IN A CHECK OUT LINE WITH A CREDIT CARD!
But I am sure that fact is lost on most of those freaking out about the O'Lielly invention right now too.
