Normally, I'm a Christmas hater; not a Scrooge, worse than that: a Grinch. Scrooge was just a grumpy old guy who wanted Christmas to leave him alone. The Grinch went to war with it.
I'm prone to Holiday Seasonal Bipolar Affective disorder. During the holiday season I waver between being moods, either I'm so annoyingly hyper that everyone around me wants to kick my ass, or I get grumpy, grouchy and glum, often alternating between the two states of mind many times a day.
But this year I'm OK. It's not bothering me. I am actually enjoying the Christmas controversy - dueling political correctednesses. Progressive PC wants to cause a decline in the use of the word "Christmas" as opposed to "Happy Holidays" because "Christmas" excludes everyone who isn't Christian, and the Born Agains are mad at everyone who says "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas" because they think it's a liberal plot to eliminate Christianity. To me, it's all fun, with people trying to get other people to boycott institutions that either do or do not use "Merry Christmas". The Right Wing BornAgains are even mad at their former Best Boy Bush because the White House sent out Christmas cards without the word "Christmas."
Admittedly, I am perverse and proud of it, but the whole thing is entertaining the hell out of me.
