2. Because more people have heard of Pryor

McCarthy was a great man by all accounts, but the simple fact of the matter is that more people have heard of Richard Pryor. I think it's that simple. After 1969 or so, McCarthy sort of faded out of sight to be a private citizen where Pryor made movies and numerous comedy appearances at clubs everywhere. Showbiz society that we live in.

I remember McCarthy and McGovern and HHH and RFK, etc. I was just stating a fact. Ask 100 people randomly who out the two they've heard of and I'll bet that most would say Pryor.
