| Why Do The Republicans Always Go For The Wrong Thing? |
|
Case in point; several months ago the Republicans delivered 1.5 billion dollars to persons unknown in Northern Iraq, they could have walked in off the street, the Republicans just handed them 1.5 billion dollars, no questions asked.
Now we might ask what would that 1.5 billion dollars buy? For starts that would have paid for securing the Russian Nuclear Weapons stockpile. That is the amount that the Republican congress refuses to pony-up because we don’t have the money.
It would be a legitimate question would be; do you feel safer because the Republicans gave 1.5 billion dollars to some unknown person in the north of Iraq, or, would you feel more secure knowing that the cold-war nuclear weapons of the former Soviet Russia was being secured?
The Republicans evidently think that handing out large green to unknown persons is strategically more important than making sure that nuclear warheads do not get into the hands of terrorist. Makes you wonder if maybe we should give stupid test before allowing someone to represent us!

| 1. Well Republicans, being the predatory lot that they are |
|
Do not give out large sums of cash for nothing. So there has to be something in this for them and perhaps that is the question we need to be asking.

26 million dollar Alaskan Bridge to nowhere is a case in point. Hiring Michael Brown after he resigns is another. Throwing away the Hart Rudman Commission Report/Recommendations is a major one.
On and on it goes....We need to fine tune our Congress to reduce Cronyism and boondogelling....

| 4. About that Alaskan bridge to nowhere. |
|
I think it was one of the callers to cspan who said that there are plans to build a town at the end of that bridge; in other words, someone plans to profit.

| 3. I remember in Afghanistan... |
|
One of the first things the military did once they figured out who was friendly and who was not, was to hand out huge sums of money (US currency, gold, etc.) to hire some local thugs and to buy information.
And one of the results of that buying spree turned out to be many, many innocent captives who were later released.
Unfortunately, they were abused and tortured first.
Oops.
