I do believe, however, that we should help those who CAN'T work and those who work but can't make enough to make ends meet.

|
or have them as co-workers? I, for one, would rather pay money not to have to work with someone who doesn't want to work.

| 14. What do you think the real numbers of those who won't work are? |
|
Think about the life people who don't work have. Would you want that? I cannot believe that most people don't want to work. I also would never want to change my life with someone who doesn't work. Think about how lucky you are rather how unlucky they are. You're you. Remember that.

| 16. Actually, I think there are lots of them. |
|
I know several. Of course, for the most part, they're not on welfare; they're sponging off their families.
As for me, I'm extremely fortunate. That's why I believe in helping others who are not.

That's a different ball of yarn. I'm with you--those who are less fortunate need to be helped! And we are fortunate that we can do it.

| 12. That's a lazy response. |

It's very easy to pick on those who have less, those who are STRUGGLING to get by on welfare, and those who are just plain poor. That's not the problem with this country. The problem is corporate welfare and the coddling of the rich. Making the rich richer and the poor poorer, which is exactly what chimpy et al have done, is an absolute sin, against the words of Jesus Christ, and one of the reasons this economy is doing so poorly. The number of people in poverty is up under the chimperator, unlike under President Clinton, when the poverty ranks decreased.

Actual assistance to the poor takes up less than one percent of the federal budget. The bulk of the waste goes to corporate welfare, which is entirely different. I don't think it's food stamps that cause our money problems. I also think most people have a greatly exaggerated idea of how many are acutally on assistance.

My usual response when called a Bleeding Heart Liberal is: "I'd rather be called a Bleeding Heart Liberal, than a Bleeding Hemorrhoid Limbaugh".
BTW: Not really a "Liberal" here; more like a "Libertarian Socialist".
